Now obviously this beer reminds me of Grady Sizemore. Overall, I found this to be a well-balanced and drinkable beer and a good representation of the style. Incredibly easy drinking bear and definitely characteristic of a NEIPA as well. The body was mouth-coating and the palate carbonation was low. The astringency was very low with this beer. I’d classify the hop bitterness as moderate and the malt sweetness as medium. The malt flavors rarely came through and really only provided some slight sweetness. There was the slightest bit of that pepper that was admittedly better in the aroma than it was in the taste. On the backend there was a ton of that white wine flavor, which was super interesting for a Double IPA. The taste largely followed the aroma and I got a ton of the orange and pineapple from the hops on the frontend. There was slight alcohol detectable upon tasting. Was getting some biscuit and bread, both on the sweeter side. The malt was weaker for sure, but still in play. The peppery bitterness helped cut through all the sweetness and make it a more well-balanced aroma. In particular I was getting pineapple and orange and white wine grape aromas. A ton of tropical and citrus aromas with some slight peppery bite. This beer was all about hop aroma though, particularly Nelson Sauvin hops shocking as that may be. There was slight alcohol detectable on the nose. Additionally, there was a slight amount of visible carbonation that added to the visual appeal. There was about two fingers of just off-white foam that looked fantastic sitting on top of the beer, all nice and fluffy.

It was a very hazy orangish amber with really good foam retention of >120 seconds. I poured a 16 ounce can into a tulip glass. Bright – Nelson is a Double IPA style beer from Tree House Brewing Company in Charlton, Massachusetts.
